Galen Bishop
Galen Bishop of Kalaheo passed away on Sept. 22, 2019, at the age of 79.
He was born in Modesto, California, and was a real estate investor.
He was preceded in death by parents Merrill and Violet Bishop, and brother Vern Bishop.
He is survived by wife Sandy Bishop, sons Chris Bishop and Todd (Stephanie) Bishop, brother Dick (Miriam) Bishop, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Kalaheo Steak & Ribs Saloon from 5 to 8 p.m.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
George Keoki Taniguchi
George Keoki Taniguchi passed away on Sept. 4, 2019, at the age of 59. He was born on Nov. 12, 1959 in Lihue, and was a custodian at Waimea Canyon Middle School.
He is survived by daughter Eloise Kanoho Taniguchi of Waimea, parents Eddie Taniguchi Jr. and Eloise Taniguchi of Pakala, brothers Roger (Lisa) Taniguchi of Makaweli, Eddie (Krissy) Taniguchi III of Hanamaulu and Manuel Taniguchi of Lihue, sister Jasmine (Charlie) Kahepu‘u of Kekaha, and by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be on Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Salt Pond Beach Park main pavilion, with luncheon to follow.
The family suggests casual attire and weclomes flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lionel Eric Ku‘uipo Gonsalves
Lionel Eric Ku‘uipo Gonsalves, 49, of Lihue, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Aug. 30, 2019. He was born on Nov. 6, 1969, in Waimea, and was employed by the state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement as Kauai branch chief.
He was preceded in death by father Leon Gonsalves Sr., maternal grandparents Albert and Clara Jardin, paternal grandparents William and Agnes Gonsalves, uncles Peter Kali Sr. and Sandy Cantotay, and cousin Peter “P.K.” Kali Jr.
He is survived by wife Cesili Gonsalves, son Bryson Gonsalves, granddaughter Ayva Marie Gonsalves, grandson Ayden Brock Gonsalves, mother of his children Kaira Kupihea, mother Judy Gonsalves, brothers Leon (Patricia) Gonsalves Sr., Lance (Tobey) Gonsalves and Loran (Linette Rita) Gonsalves, his mothers and fathers in-law Kaipo and Wendy Waiwaiole and Leonard and Yolanda Esona Sr., sisters-in-law Pua (Brian) Fernandez, Moana Waiwaiole, Jennie (Chad) Vega, Nicole (Kenneth) Carvalho, Shannelly Esona and Kabbie (Aaron) Koshan, brother-in-law Leonard Esona Jr., aunts Alberta Kali, Annette Cremer and Jeanette Cantotay, uncle Sam (Francine) Gonsalves, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his Kalapaki surf crew.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Nawiliwili Beach Park, Kalapaki Bay, with visitation at 8 a.m., services at 9 a.m. and paddle out in the bay at 10 a.m., with a luncheon to follow.
