HONOLULU — To avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest, the Hawaii attorney general’s office will take over prosecution of protesters arrested for blocking construction of a giant telescope.
Big Island prosecutor Mitch Roth said Wednesday he turned over the cases in response to an Associated Press story highlighting concerns that his son’s employment with a telescope partner is a possible conflict.
His son works at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Those who work at that research facility are employed by the California Institute of Technology, a Thirty Meter Telescope partner.
Roth says he doesn’t believe it’s a conflict, but he asked for opinions from the state Office of Disciplinary Counsel and the county’s ethics board.
Attorney General spokesman Krishna Jayaram says it’s unfortunate “mere allegations of a conflict became newsworthy.”
The entire State system of cronies has always been a conflict of interests. Just look at how the State ram rod the telescope from day one since the first one was built under land that was supposed to benefit native Hawaiians administered by the DHHL an act approved by Congress as part of an agreement for Statehood that the State will take over the Federal responsibility.
But we all know it was a big lie and illegal matter when the State paved a road and then made huge profits by sub leasing DHHL that is has for $1 annually for a 99 year lease, which it agrees that TMT pays $17 million!
To make matters worst, you should ask the FBI why is it possible for former State retired legislatures (all of which are Japanese descendants of plantation illegals) also have this $1 dollar/year 99 year lease that they too make huge profits by subleasing out at market price and giving NOTHING to native Hawaiians.
The entire State is full of conflict of interests and makes you wonder how come the Japanese only account for 17% of Hawaii’s total population, yet infest all State agencies work force of 67%? It is also through nepotim, racist polices and cronyism.
