Did you ever see one of those squishies (can it double as a stress ball?) that you throw in the freezer and put it on your head to keep you cool (yep, we still got them high temperatures)?

That was just one of the giveaways (Cynthia “MIX” Chiang of the state Department of Health had this one) at the Elder Law Day presented by the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii and the county’s Agency on Elderly Affairs at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall Friday.
Jean Souza of the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary said she could use several of those. Jean (she even had time to check out the Kauai Society of Artists’ Art Kauai exhibit!) was having her 5 o’clock snack while planning out Kauai’s Ocean Discovery Center that will open to the public in January at Kukui Grove Center (what’s going on with the lights and all those cars in the former Kmart building?).
Winona Steed (she’s famous because the mainland people ask about her after seeing her in TGI) came in from the Westside to check out more than Mizu Sumida’s (if warriors don’t have uniforms in war, you don’t know who is the good guys and who is the bad guys) artwork.
Tiffany DeEtte Shafta (she’s got her own gallery in Hawi, Big Island!) was juror for the show that is open daily at the KSA gallery in the mall.
