KOLOA — The adventures of Jennifer “Jungle Jen” Foster, missionary extraordinaire, will be shared at the Koloa Missionary Church on Saturday and Sunday.
From the time she was 8 years old, Foster felt called to be a missionary. Twenty years later, God opened the door for that calling to be fulfilled, said a press release.
Hear about jungle survival training, a three-day boat trek up the Amazon River, and making her home among the Amazonian ‘M” community.
Learn about her fitting into the culture of those with whom she worked, living without electricity, sleeping in a hammock, bathing in the river, eating the food of the “M” community, and caring for her pet monkey, Nicco, all the while following the heart of God.
At the conclusion of her first two-year stay, the “M” community had a church congregation of over 60 members and two trained community pastors who have continued the work that was started there.
In 2012, the Lord led her to start her own church-planting, nonprofit organization called “Stand Out Ministries,” which has planted more churches, distributed thousands of bibles to the unreached and made more disciples in the Amazon.
The public is invited to her documentary movie at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, where face-painting will be available, Amazon-style, and hear her speak at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
