The Garden Island’s annual Football Fever contest is back in action.
The winner, each week over the 19 weeks of the contest, wins $250. TGI remains one of the few daily newspapers in the United States to offer a weekly cash prize in a Football Fever contest. It’s rare to have a chance to win a cash prize like this one, week after week. One of the best deals around.
A grand prize winner at season’s end determined by a random drawing from all entries will win a trip for two to Las Vegas and $500.
To have a chance to win, all you have to do is fill out the ballot that’s online at thegardenisland.com. That’s a change from past years when it was in TGI’s print edition. You need to match or beat the top-scoring panelist and have your name randomly drawn from the qualified entries.
On the panel are Richard Stein, operations manager of The Garden Island; Bill Buley, TGI editor; and a mystery guest.
Here’s how it works: There are college and pro games selected for the ballot each week, including one tiebreaker. All you have to do is pick which team you believe will win. It’s that simple.
Some keys to remember:
• A list of games to pick from, with the support of our advertisers, runs in TGI Monday.
• Advertiser picks run every Wednesday. We encourage you to support our advertisers for this contest. They include Tahiti Nui in Hanalei, Tiki Iniki in Princeville, all the island’s McDonald’s restaurants, Poipu Bay Golf Course and Matheson, which is ready to meet your industrial gas and welding needs.
• Panelist picks run every Friday.
• Weekly winner ads run every Sunday.
The odds to win $250 are as good as they’re going to get. About 200 folks are usually in the weekly ballot, which makes us think this is either one of the best-kept secrets on the island, or people just don’t believe this offer is the real deal. It is. One rule to note: You must be a Hawaii resident 21 years or older with a valid I.D. to participate.
You want to be part of this, so we encourage everyone to join the fun. Go to thegardenisland.com and give it your best guess as to who will win each game. It could pay off in ways bigger than you imagine.
