Rodney Gerard Medeiros
Rodney Gerard Medeiros, 70, of Lihue, passed away on Aug. 5, 2019. He was born on Kauai on May 25, 1949, and worked in airport maintenance for the state Department of Transportation Airports Division.
He was preceded in death by mother Alice Medeiros and brother Calvin Medeiros.
He is survived by father Manuel Medeiros, son Richard (Shelly) Medeiros, daughters Leila (Abe) Kuhaulua and Ziba (Colin Nakamura) Medeiros, nieces Alyssa (Hanson Hsu) Kaneakua and Cherina (Tony Laborte) Medeiros, grandchildren Ashley, Ashkhon, Daisha and Rashaan Kuhaulua, Naja, Collin, Noah and Fehryn Pungan, and Bayleigh and R.J Medeiros, and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex, the large pavilion behind the Kapaa skate park near the roundabout.
Kauai Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Darrell Gene Amorin
Darrell Gene Amorin, 60, went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2019. He was born July 15, 1958 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihue, and was a painter for many years.
He was preceded in death by parents Frank and Maria Amorin.
He is survived by children Emerson (Amber) Amorin, Jennifer (Keola) Amorin and Lea Amorin, sisters Priscilla (Osang) Miguel, and Carol (Ron) Dias, brother Harold Amorin, and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Kauai Veterans Center in Lihue, with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and services celebrated at 10 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire.
Paulina Manuel Hernando
Paulina Manuel Hernando, 92, of Lihue, passed away on July 31, 2019, at Pali Momi Hospital on Oahu. She was born in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on July 6, 1927, and retired as a housekeeper with Tip Top Café &Motel.
She was preceded in death by husband Emeterio Hernando.
She is survived by sons Samuel Hernando and Rolly (JoMarie) Hernando, and granddaughter Ryleigh Hernando.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
