LIHUE — Kauai police captured 37-year-old Jeffrey Kelekoma Jr., the second inmate who escaped from the Kauai Community Correctional Center on Aug. 4.
About 7 a.m. Friday, Kelekoma was located by police in a makeshift campsite in an open field in Anahola. However, upon seeing police, Kelekoma fled the scene on a moped. Responding officers followed his tracks to the north end of Kealia Beach to no avail. Police continued their search, which led them to a residence in Kapaa.
Upon arriving to the home, Kelekoma was standing outside with family members. He was arrested without injury or incident about 8:25 a.m., and transported back to KCCC.
Kelekoma escaped from KCCC with 21-year-old Isaiah Pongasi-Adric. KPD apprehended Pongasi-Adric at a residence in Anahola on Aug. 7.
Both escapees are now back in the custody of the state Department of Public Safety.
He should have stayed in the mountains and live off the land, KPD are too lazy to hike in rugged areas looking for him.
Great, now how about tracking down the other 1,500 bail jumpers who are in the wind.
Send him to a real prison, he has no respect for the community.
