Julia Kauakahi (yes, she’s related to those famous songwriters and musicians!) was helping Stephanie in loading all that food (and money!) for both Nana’s House and Hale Ho‘omalu (Dory Farias couldn’t make the contribution because Hale Ho‘omalu was hosting a pantry day for people in need). But she was able to join sister Jennifer Acoba from the Koloa Landing Resort in congratulating their sister Ashley Conner, who was one of four new homeowners in the Kauai Habitat for Humanity’s Eleele Iluna neighborhood having their homes dedicated by Pastor Darryl Kua (he was one of the leaders at the Kekaha Fourth of July celebration!).
Congratulations to Ashley, Josey Jacinto (remember her from all that community and high school basketball?), Kaira Kajiwara (how can you miss someone with a name like “Banana?”), and Oeita Kauakahi on their new homes!
And mahalo to Jan Roberta and her Team Roberta Global Village team (they were working on the next increment of future homes), who joined the celebration on the final work day of their tour.
OK, it’s time to roll up the sleeves for the Heiva I Kauai that opens Saturday and Sunday with Jo and Tepairu Manea, Stella Miyoshi and Pat Finberg at Kapaa Beach Park.
And don’t forget the Bike and Skateboard Safety Day Saturday at the back parking area at the Wilcox Health Center (it’s next door to Walmart, which is partnering with The Salvation Army for a final back-to-school push for school supplies!).
