What a hectic weekend as Kauai recovers from no less than two parades (Isabel Gampon was in the historic Koloa Plantation Days parade, too), a state scholarship pageant (congrats to Isabel Gampon on being named the 2019 Miss Hawaii Filipina!), and more. Its a good thing Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakamis wardrobe is diverse enough that he could dress appropriately for all those events.

And, talk about making lemonade out of lemons, Capt. Edwards and the shift crew from the Lihue Fire Station were Johnny-on-the-spot when someone succumbed in the sea of Mauna March rally at the Historic County Building.
Scott Johnson brought Paulo out to the parade because the aging “oldest operating steam locomotive in Hawaii” can still crank out its steam whistle even if it “blew out its stack,” and is hobbled by a broken crank — anyone have a grant to keep this historic piece moving?
Myrvie Buster was everywhere (as was Mayor Derek), doing wardrobe changes between the historic Koloa Plantation Days parade and taking the stage at the Miss Hawaii Filipina scholarship pageant.
Moving to things ahead, Chip Bahout (he was the ‘Wanted’ guy on the Sheraton Kauai Resort decorated vehicle) and the Sheraton Kauai crew welcome the Kauai Chamber of Commerce for the Hawaii Community Foundation luncheon Thursday, and artist Kara Swink (she opened her one-person show Friday!) talks about the therapeutic value of art during an after-hours talk story, Wednesday from 6 p.m. at the Kauai Society of Artists gallery at the Kukui Grove Center … whew, maybe we have time for an Orange Dream from Mark Bonilla and the Jamba Juice ‘ohana…
