Miss Kauai Filipina Isabel Gampon (dad Chris was busy with the traditional Hawaiian games, er activities at the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation) plans on being in the Saturday parade along with reigning Miss Hawaii Filipina Joylene Tabon, and still make it to the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall for the state pageant, Saturday night…that’s the same night Stephanie Castillo (she’s at the Japanese Grandma in Hanapepe, Sunday!) is offering a pair of free movies on the Filipino experience at the Kukui Grove Center!
Lee Gately of the Kauai Historical Society was happy to be busy with the Kauai Culinary Market crowd (they snatched up everything Merriman’s Chef Mark Arriola prepped for the Chef’s Demo — overripe Apple bananas make great malasada!) at the Koloa Plantation Days exhibit.
Laura and Dave Andersland of The Salty Wahine were in the thick of the action (Jianni Miller and Alana Dupre of California were ideal models of paradise as they collected different pieces from the market vendors, and did you get to sample the warabi salad by Chyson Aguano?) because Jessika Montoya Cristobal was busy rehearsing for “Chicago.”
