POLIHALE — Officials report that there are no signs of 33-year-old Fathi Twalib of Kalaheo, as a multi-agency search continued in waters off Polihale State Park on Thursday.
The beach also remained closed for swimming as several shark sightings were reported in the area.
The two-day search was expected to be suspended at the end of the day if there were no signs or reports of the swimmer.
According to a preliminary report, Kauai Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a missing swimmer at Polihale State Park on Tuesday about 7:30 p.m. A witness reported that the swimmer apparently failed to resurface after ducking into the water about 10 feet from shore.
