Happy birthday to Malathi Tuers, who celebrated her special day with friends (Jo Nunes is a really akamai farmers’ market shopper; Rocky and Dely Sasaki of Kauai Island Ministries have their “From Death to Life” youth rally coming up Aug. 2!) at the Kauai Culinary Market (it’s on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at The Shops at Kukuiula), where Jessika Montoya Cristobal is already looking forward to being part of “Chicago” that follows the Hawaii Children’s Theatre’s “Frozen, Jr.”) that plays this weekend at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
Arizona State University running backs coach (he used to coach at Kapaa High School, too) Shaun Aguano and his son Nainoa Aguano were enjoying the Lappert’s offering before heading back to football. From his vantage point, he could keep an eye on his brother Chyson Aguano’s Sauced table where Maleia Aguano, Tyler Aguano, Makenzie Boyd and Chandler Boyd were occupied with offering samples and processing orders.
Kudos to Johnny Gordines (Terry was trying to figure out how to get out early from The Kauai Culinary Market) and Eric Tanouye of Green Point Nurseries (what is that new anthurium variety?) for coordinating the bridal flower expo that featured the work of Dottie Yadao and Canadian designer Hitomi Gilliam demonstrating the use of local foliage (Hitomi loves all the vines!) and flowers to create bridal flower creations in both traditional and contemporary (the Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay staff was trying out that fancy headpiece!) offerings.
