Edward L. Sarita
Edward L. Sarita passed away on July 2, 2019, at Straub Medical Center on Oahu. He was born on Dec. 11, 1942. He was retired as the manager of Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
He is preceded parents Gaudencio and Salome Sarita; brother-in-law Gary Yoshida.
He is survived his wife Charlene Sarita; daughter Kimberly (Walter) Sarita-Paresa; brothers, Stephen Sarita, Dennis Sarita; sister Fay Yoshida.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass to follow at 10 a.m. Family suggests casual attire.
Mabel Reis Medeiros
Mabel Reis Medeiros, 93, of Kapolei, passed away at home on July 1, 2019. She was born in Eleele on April 30, 1926. She was a housewife.
She is preceded in death by her husband Joe (Jose) Medeiros; daughter Linda M. Rita; sons, Joseph Adam, Dominick P. Medeiros; grandson Leonard Rita Jr.; parents William and Mary Reis; brother Adam Reis; sister-in-laws, Annie Reis, Margaret Reis, Dolly Reis.
She is survived by her daughter Shirley A. (Benny) Laguatan; son John W. (Nina) Medeiros; sister Violet (Wallace) Moura; brothers, Alfred, Harry and Thomas Reis; sister-in-law Janet Reis; five grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grand children; numerous nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held at Holy Cross Parish in Kalaheo, on July 18, 2019, with visitation from 9 to 9:45 a.m. and Mass to be held at 10 a.m.
There will be a burial to follow at the church cemetery.
Mary K. Takemoto
Mary K. Takemoto passed away in Lihue on May 20, 2019, at the age of 72. She was born on March 3, 1947, in Lihue. She was a housewife.
She is preceded in death by father Hiram Kane; mother Anne Kane; sister Annie Kane; brother Hiram Kane.
She is survived by husband Dennis K. Takemoto of Hanapepe; sons, Ken Takemoto of Delaware, Mark (Kim) Takemoto of Hilo, Tracy (Connie) Takemoto of Hanapepe; grandchildren, Kiernan, Tyde, Hunter, Tevyn and Archer Takemoto; brother Job Kane of Anahola; sister Gwen Calleon of Waipahu. She is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services to be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Hanapepe Church of Nazarene. Family suggests casual attire.

Jacqueline Iwalani Leanio
Jacqueline Iwalani Leanio, 80, of Anahola, passed away at home on July 14, 2019. She was born on Oahu on July 15, 1938 and was a dedicated homemaker.
Preceded in death by her husband Hilario Leanio Sr.; parents John Tremains, Sr. and Ellen Hano.
Jacqueline is survived by two children, Eric (Michele) Leanio, Donna (Kalani) Leanio; 6 grandchildren, Danielle, Jordan, Garren, Darren, Kekai, Cameron; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Oshyn, Kamahao and Abby.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Eddie Sarita, the Mayor of Hanama’ulu Town was deeply respected by the community as a leader and community planner. His legacy will continue on from all of the projects he started and participated in on Kaua’i. He was a humble hero of Hanama’ulu Town and will be missed.
