MAJORS BAY — More than 6,000 people gathered at Shenanigans on the Pacific Missile Range Facility base Wednesday afternoon to take advantage of the sun, surf and fireworks show in celebration of Independence Day.
The Most West Freedom Fest kicked off their opening ceremony with members of the Waimea High School Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps parading the colors and then transitioned to food trucks and live music from The Homesteads, The Green and Ka Ha.
People crowded the beach for one of the West Side’s stunning sunsets, and then fireworks took their turn to light up the sky with one of the biggest fireworks displays they’ve created in the years the base has hosted the show.
