WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — A single-engine plane with two people on board made an emergency landing on a road near a resort on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the pilot of the Cessna 206 declared an emergency due to engine failure Wednesday.
The pilot told the Kona International Airport control tower they needed to land on a road. The pilot landed on Waikoloa Road about one mile (1.6 kilometers) south of Waikoloa Village at about 10:45 a.m.
Hawaii County managing director Wil Okabe says there were no injuries. The FAA says there was no damage.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
