The state Department of Health issued a brown water advisory warning island-wide for Kauai.
Last week’s heavy rains caused storm water runoff to enter coastal waters, creating the water advisory.
The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer, manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals, and associated flood debris.
If the water is brown, stay out, the DOH advises.
Brown water advisories were issued on Oahu as well.
