Aw, couldn’t ask Ron Wood about the senior softball games, Paul Curtis — Ron is off to a family reunion and missed out on the uncertain weather that fueled a huge turnout to the Kauai Culinary Market (Johnny and Terry Gordines were sold out in the first hour!) Wednesday afternoon, where Chyson Aguano opened his Sauced Kauai table.
Harvey Maeda and Richard Aki were not going to take any chances in the rain with their classic rides, but Stacie Chiba-Miguel said the Southside Cruise and Show is going to happen Saturday, rain or shine, from 10 a.m.
OK, the rain is supposed to ease off by Friday afternoon, just in time for Ilima Rivera’s Kauai Kau Wela, and the Friends of the Lihue Public Library used book sale. Dorene Sautner is excited about Janet Vegas finishing the cataloging and sorting of the library’s large collection of records (how can we burn them to digital files?).
Melissa McFerrin-Warrack is getting excited about the Back to School Bash that takes place Saturdeay, July 13, because the Kauai Society of Artists (they’ve got their big member show coming in September!) just signed on as one of the latest sponsors. There is still room for more community sponsors and exhibitors for the gathering, where more than 1,800 bags (it’s not just your mommy look-alike shopping bag) of school supplies will be given away free!
And keiki (and coaches of school-aged teams), remember, you need to be there to get yours, so plan accordingly. You snooze, you lose.
