LeRoi Hildon Bethel Jr.
LeRoi Hildon Bethel Jr., 59, of Kapaa, passed away at this home on June 18, 2019. He was born in Paris, France, on Aug. 18, 1959, and worked as a lead ramp serviceman at Hawaiian Airlines.
He was preceded in death by parents Leroy Bethel Sr. and Tomie Shiokawa, and son Maverick Bethel.
He is survived by wife Crystal Bethel, sons Leevi Bethel, Brooks Bethel and Hunter Bethel, sisters Katherine Bethel, Karen (Jim) Tolbert and Carol Chambliss, brother William (Megumi) Bethel, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Edward ‘Goto’ Sarmiento
Edward “Goto” Sarmiento passed away at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on June 20, 2019, at the age of 67.
He was born on Oct. 30, 1951 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, and worked as a groundskeeper.
He was preceded in death by parents Pablo and Juanita Sarmiento and brother Robert Sarmiento.
He is survived by wife Apryle Sarmiento, sons Cory (Michelle) Sarmiento of Kekaha, Kauhi (Lilian) Sarmiento of Waimea, daughter Shaylise Sarmiento of Eleele, hanai daughter Girley (Troy) Napohaku of Hanapepe, brothers Pablo (Nadia) Sarmiento of Koloa, Stanley (Alicia) Sarmiento of Kapaa, Richard (Choco) Sarmiento of Lihue, sisters Loretta Salcedo of Lihue, Gloria Domingo of Puhi, Roseline Sherman of Port Hueneme, Consolacion (Edgar) Salcedo of San Diego, Priscilla (Wesley) Lardera of Hanamaulu and Marie Relacion of Long Beach, California, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 20, at Westside Christian Fellowship in Kekaha. Visitation is from 9 a.m. with a celebration of life service to begin at 10 a.m.
The family requests casual attire.

Ellen Emiyo Higa
Ellen Emiyo Higa, 78, of Lihue, passed away at Garden Isle Healthcare on May 27, 2019. She was born on Oahu on Dec. 15, 1940, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by daughter Candice Higa, and brothers Albert Ono and James Ono.
She is survived by sons Roy (Nancy Rapozo) Higa, Garrett (Kuipo Shimizu) Higa and Eric (Tania) Higa, two grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 1, at Kapaa Hongwanji, with visitation from 9 a.m. and service at 10 a.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Gladys Morimoto Nakamura
Gladys Morimoto Nakamura, 104, of Hilo, Hawaii, died on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center.
She was born in Kekaha.
She was preceded in death by husband Shigeo, daughters Joye Guay and Merry Black, and grandson Michael Black.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
