Born and raised in Wailua Homesteads, she was the daughter of the late Teiji and Yoshiko (Nakamura) Miyashiro. She graduated from Kapaa High School in 1950, then earned a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University of Agriculture and Applied Science and a master’s degree in public health from the University of Michigan.
She was working in a civilian capacity on an American Army base in Germany when she met the charming George Brace of Springfield, Massachusetts. Her creativity led her to open a clothing and crafting business in Hanamaulu. A woman of many talents, she was a member of the Kauai Board of Realtors for many years before retiring to Las Vegas in 2006.
While in Las Vegas, she continued to discover her artistic abilities, including painting, calligraphy and piano. George and Michiko recently moved to northeast Florida to seek additional medical treatment and to enjoy a simpler way of life.
