Mary Lou Barela
Mary Lou Barela passed away at her home in Lihue on April 9, 2019, following several years of living with cancer. She was born on Aug. 12, 1940, in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joe C. and Annie Barela and her sister Darlene Barela Cooke. Her ashes will be scattered in New Mexico where her parents are buried.
A gathering in Mary Lou’s honor will be held at the Frear Center for Hawaiian Culture and the Arts at Island School on Friday, May 31, 2019, at 5 p.m.
Genevieve Ruth Regas
March 14, 1921 – May 6, 2019
Genevieve Regas, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Mother-in-Law, and friend passed away at the age of 98, in Laguna Woods, California.
Genevieve was born to Adam Rigel and Cecelia Konzen Rigel, and raised in Sherwood, Ohio with her three older brothers. Genevieve graduated from Ohio State University where she earned her teaching degree and met her future husband Tom Regas. They were married shortly after graduation, during WWII, and both joined the war effort, Tom in the Army and Genevieve as a supervisor in a manufacturing plant. After the war, Genevieve began her teaching career in Ohio. In the early 1950s, they moved with their two young daughters to
Arcadia in Southern California. With four growing girls, Genevieve put her teaching career on hold and became very active in school and church activities. When Tom retired, they moved to Oxnard, where Genevieve became a substitute teacher for gifted children, and supported Tom’s interest in boating by taking an active role in the local Power Squadron. In 1980, they made their final move to Laguna Woods, California.
Genevieve was a remarkably kind and intelligent woman, a lifelong learner, with a rare empathy and interest in others. She is survived by her four daughters, Ruth (Sandy) Johnson, Mary Ragas (Wayne), Jane Standridge and Frances Regas, M.D (Bob), 5 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was an amazing role model and is loved and missed by all.

Fausto Sambajon Torres
Fausto Sambajon Torres, 85, of Kapaa, passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2019. He was born in Poblacion West, Nagbukel, Ilocos Sur, Philippines on July 22, 1933, and retired from the hotel and tourism industry as a houseman.
He is preceded in death by his parents Guillermo and Crispina Torres and infant son Francis Torres.
Fausto is survived by his wife Regina Cabico Torres; children, Sonny Torres, Juanita (Richard) Agaran, Boni (Cathy) Torres, Clarence Melba Torres, Anabel (Rhod) Giron of Lanai City, Robert Torres; siblings, Maria Torres and Remy Luzano of the Phillipines; 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at St. Catherine’s Church with visitation from 8 a.m. and Mass celebration at 10 a.m. There will be a burial to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

James Arcibal Macadamia
James Arcibal Macadamia, 62, of Kapaa, passed away on May 15, 2019, at his home. He was born in the Philippines on Nov. 9, 1956.
He was preceded in death by his mother Cecilia Macadamia.
He is survived by his wife Laurie Macadamia; dad Daniel (Edna) Macadamia; brothers, Daniel (Beverely) Macadamia, Romeo (Cresencia) Macadamia; sisters, Celda (Dave) Nicastro, Lilybeth Macadamia; daughters, Jennifer (Xavier Chatman) Macadamia, Julie (Kelii) Nahalea, Natalie Macadamia, Patricia (Bernard Davis) Macadamia, Katherine (Steve) Udaundo; son Jameson (Leslie Agno) Macadamia; 11 grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Kauai Veteran’s Center. Visitation beings at 9 a.m. with services to begin at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Garden and Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome.

John Whitney Kaulula’au Kaulukukui
John Whitney Kaulula’au Kaulukukui, 64, of Kapaa, died peacefully at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital on March 23, 2019. He was born in Honolulu on Oct. 18, 1954.
Preceded in death by his mother May L. Wright; father Glenn Kaulukukui Sr.; brothers Glenn Kaulukukui Jr. and Fred Kaulukukui.
John is survived by brothers, Roddy (Gina) Kaulukukui, Moses (Michelle) Palisbo-Kaulukukui, Douglas Kim Kaulukukui; sisters, Fabian (Anacleto) Kaulukukui-Heloca, Kanani (Carl) Moore, Juliana (Gabriel) Tennberg, Kainoa Kaulukukui; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held at Kealia Beach on Saturday, June 1, 2019, beginning at 10 a.m. A paddle out will follow.

Rosa Aledo Patohan passed away on Dec. 1, 2018 in Lacy, Washington. She was born on Oct. 13, 1932, in Koloa.
She is preceded in death by parents Cirisco Aledo and Teofila Fernandesher; husband Juan Pantohan, son Michael Pantohan, grand- daughter Tiffany Pantohan; brothers, Dong Aledo, Cereal and Andy Fernandez; sisters, Josephine and Erenio Aledo.
She is survived by her sons, James (Rosa) Pantohan of Kauai, Steven (Edna) Pantohan of Washington, Baco (Solidad) Fernandez of Kauai; sister Reme (Jimmy) Bolster of Oahu; sister-in-laws, Jeanie (Epifanio) Oroc of Kauai, Mary (Cipirino) Otlang of Kauai, Sharlene ( Alejandro) Otlang of Texas, Shirley (Cristobal) Otlang of California, Suzette Kenny of Kauai; daughter-in-law Colleen Pantohan of Kauai; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Manuel Agdeppa passed away on May 15, 2019
He was born on Dec. 26, 1940.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at the Ballard Family Moanalua Mortuary in Honolulu from 5 to 9 p.m.
A second service will be held on Saturday, June 1, at the Cathedral Basilica at Our Lady of Peace in Honolulu from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a burial to follow at the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park in Kaneohe at 2 p.m.
Stanley Amorin, Sr.
Stanley Amorin, Sr., passed away on April 10, 2019, at his home in Lihue. Born on April 3, 1930, in Lihue, he was a mechanic with Lihue Plantation.
He is survived by his sons, Stanley (Connie) Amorin Jr. of Lihue, David (Terilyn) Amorin of Lihue; daughters, Phyllis Amorin of Lihue, Rochelle (Leroy) Vandergalien of Wisconsin, Christine (Wilber) Villanueva of Eleele; 10 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife Consuelo “Connie” Amorin, son Patrick Amorin, parents Virgin and Sophie Amorin; brothers, Donald Amorin, Gerald (Gerry) Amorin.
Friends may visit with the family on June 8, 2019, at Immaculate Conception church from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
There will be a burial to follow after the Immaculate Conception Church ceremony. Family suggests casual attire.
