Happy birthday to Carol Pratt who celebrated her birthday during the Banana Poka Round Up (kudos to Chris Faye and her Committee on another great day in the uplands!) that can be described as a forest education festival.

Paul Togioka made it up the hill in time for his gig after coming home from Na Hoku Hanohano where his Ta Pua Elama album was a nominee for Hawaiian Slack Key Album of the Year, and Nick Castillo was home following a Hawaii Visitors Bureau mainland tour.
Shirley Medeiros said she was planning on defending her Crowing Contest title, and Mike Teruya was going crazy with photographs of the many costumed birds (Evelyn Roth said she created those costumes 24 years ago!) cavorting on the grounds of the historic 1935 Civilian Conservation Corps Camp.
David Pratt was working on his Banana Poka basket (no Chris Faye creation, this year?) for Carol’s birthday, and Jill Faye Papworth said hers is going to hang on a wall. Lisa Crampton found the invasive plant makes a good base for a multi-seasonal wreath, and Tekoa Yamaguchi (Sue Boynton’s grandson; sister Amai was busy being a bird) said he’s going to have two handles on his basket.
More fun is on tap Saturday when registration opens for the “Kids Summer Fest” presented by the Wilcox Health at the Kauai Marriott from 9 a.m (event is from 9:30 a.m. to noon).
