He was a much-loved man who loved hugely, said daughter Stephanie. The most important thing to him was his family. He cherished his wife, Susan, who was his anchor for 40 years. He loved his children fiercely. His three children adored him. Each named a son in his honor.
He delighted in nature: the mountains and ocean, and also tropical flowers, many varieties of which he raised. He had a lifelong hobby of garage-saleing. He loved the bargain-hunting, and often took his kids along to find treasures. He loved Hawaiian culture, Hawaiian music, and the Hawaiiana he collected at garage sales.
He and Susan enjoyed traveling anywhere. He appreciated trying the foods and seeing the art and culture of the world, and meeting interesting people wherever he went. He leaves behind many dear friends in California and Kauai.
