Robert Pollock will perform “Adventures in Modern Piano Music” at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lihue.
This is a return engagement to Kauai by Pollock, Ebb &Flow Arts executive director, founder and composer/pianist. Admission is free. Donations will be accepted.
Pollock performed in May 2018 in Lihue, but this is an all-new program. It will range from 12 tone classics such as Schoenberg’s “Opus 33b” to John Cage’s plucked, muted, “Music for Piano.”
It will comprise recent works by Sarn Oliver, William Anderson and Peter Swanzy, inspired by Korean poetry and commissioned by E&FA as part of a music-cultural exchange with Veritas Musicae (Seoul).
Also included will be two of his recent works composed since May 20 of last year, “Piano Synergy #3 and #4,” as well as other works from the 20th century by Roger Sessions (“Waltz”), Henry Cowell (“Banshee”) and Eugene Lee (“Etude #3”). There will be time for questions and answers.
