KOLOA — Local nonprofit, The “W” of Kauai, will host its annual NBC basketball and volleyball youth camps next month. Both are co-ed and are geared for players ages 8 through 18.
Its seventh annual NBC Kauai Basketball Camp is scheduled for June 1-5 at the Southside Sports Center in Koloa.
Each camp is $85 by May 27. Late entry fee is $115. To register, go to www.thewofkauai.org.
Coaches who will lead the basketball camp are:
w John Fazio: been with NBC Camps for more than 20 years; 15 years experience conducting individual skills training and AAU and YMCA coaching)
w Shawn Stetson: directed NBC camps for 18 years; former player for the University of Calgary in Canada)
w Jesse Vowels: has coached high school and college; been working with NBC for more than 10 years
The nonprofit’s fifth annual NBC Kauai Volleyball Camp is set for June 8-12 at the Southside Sports Center.
Those leading the volleyball camp are:
w Kati Bodecker: in sixth season as head coach at Whitworth University; won back-to-back NWC championships in 2014-16 and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament; 91-43 overall record in five years including a 64-16 conference record
w Breanna Berkimer: joined Whitworth volleyball staff in 2017 as a graduate assistant coach; a second-team All-NWC selection her senior year; starting middle blocker for three seasons and earned All-NWC honorable mention in 2014 and 2015
