LIHUE — The Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation is partnering with SMS Research to conduct a phone survey to gather data on housing supply and demand.
“Folks in Hawaii have always been generous in answering this survey, which comes around every two to three years,” said Jim Dannemiller, president of SMS Research & Marketing Services.
”We have completed the phone surveys on Oahu and are nearing completion on Hawaii Island. However, with less than half of surveys collected on Kauai, Maui, Lanai and Molokai, we’re hoping folks in these communities will help out once again,” he said.
The telephone survey is a major piece of the 2019 Hawaii Housing Planning Study. The data gathered on housing costs, conditions, demand and preferences helps government and the private sector to plan housing projects and programs, said Craig K. Hirai, HHFDC executive director.
Other participants in the study include the Kauai County Housing Agency.
