KEALAKEKUA — A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Hawaii woman accused of fatally stabbing a woman and seriously injuring a man.
West Hawaii Today reports the hearing for 19-year-old Kaleianuenue Borero-Kaluna of Naalehu is set for Wednesday.
Borero-Kaluna appeared Monday in Kona District Court on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder.
The charges stem from a stabbing Friday at Whittington Beach Park in Naalehu that left a 35-year-old woman dead and a 36-year-old man in serious but stable condition.
Deputy Public Defender Ann Datta asked the court to reduce bail and grant supervised release.
Datta says Borero-Kaluna is eight months pregnant.
Judge Margaret Masunaga reduced bail to $150,000. Bail was originally set at $200,000. Borero-Kaluna is also being held on $150 bail in connection to a contempt of court charge.
