HONOLULU — The estranged wife of a Hawaii police sergeant charged with abusing her has filed a lawsuit against him and the police department.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Friday that the civil suit against Honolulu Police Sgt. Darren Cachola was filed Monday at Circuit Court.
The woman’s attorney, Eric Seitz, says police arrested Cachola the same day on suspicion of abusing her at her home.
Cachola could not be reached for comment.
Cachola was charged Wednesday with misdemeanor abuse of a family or household member and two counts of petty misdemeanor harassment. He was released after posting $1,500 bail.
The lawsuit accuses Cachola of assault and battery and alleges negligence, conspiracy and infliction of emotional distress by him and the department.
Police spokeswoman Michelle Yu declined to comment on the lawsuit and bail amount due to the pending litigation.

Well with the former HPD chief Louis Kealoha and his wife, former City prosecutor being investigated by the FBI, I am not surprised that other current HPD officers are still following the lead of their former boss and doing unethnical things.
