An update on the TIGER (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) grant is on the agenda for Thursday’s Lihue Business Association meeting that begins at 7:30 a.m. at Duke’s Canoe Club, Kalapaki.
Doug Haigh, Kauai County Building Division chief, will give the overview.
In May 2015, the LBA sent a letter in support of Kauai’s TIGER grant application to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Later that year, Kauai was selected in the grant process and the county was awarded $13.8 million improve mobility and stimulate revitalization in the Lihue Town Core. A shared-use path is now open from Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall on Hardy Street to the former courthouse on Umi Street.
Haigh will outline plans for other roads and sidewalks to improve bicycling, walking, and general transit conditions for pedestrians and motorists in downtown Lihue.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
