Concert to support ‘Kauai ‘Opio and Keiki Orchestra’

LIHUE The Kauai Community College Symphony Orchestra will perform a variety of numbers from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kauai Veterans Center. The concert will also feature solo and chamber music performances from many musicians from around the island. Donations at the door will be used to start the Kauai Opio and Keiki Orchestra.

LIHUE — The Kauai Community College Symphony Orchestra will perform a variety of numbers from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kauai Veterans Center. The concert will also feature solo and chamber music performances from many musicians from around the island. Donations at the door will be used to start the Kauai ‘Opio and Keiki Orchestra.

“Unless a family can afford private lessons, there are currently no venues on Kauai for students to learn to play string instruments: violin, viola, cello and bass,” according to a press release. “KOKO will allow students to learn these instruments for no cost.”
