POIPU — Coralyn Murayama held off a challenge by Coryssa Silva to be named All Around Cowgirl following the Kauai All Girl Rodeo Association event that wrapped up Sunday at CJM Country Stables in Poipu.
During the Barrel Racing and Pole Bending events, Murayama was a consistent fourth place in the first D of both events while Coryssa finished second in the Barrel Racing, and first in Pole Bending.
Murayama continued to show in the middle of the leaders, finishing third in the Steer Undecorating event on a 14.00 second average over two go’s while Coryssa did not appear on the leaderboard.
The eventual All Around Cowgirl went on to finish second in Breakaway Roping with a 10.95 average over two go’s, and teamed with Kim Medeiros in Dally Team Roping, finishing fourth with an 18.32 average on one go.
Coryssa served as the header and Shannie Wong was the heeler to capture top honors with a 32.50 average on two go’s.
The next KAGRA rodeo is penciled in for April 28 at the CJM Country Stables with the grand entry starting at 10 a.m. There is no admission charge to view the action from ocean-view bleacher seating.
