HANALEI — The Kauai Police Department, along with the Kauai Fire Department, responded to a report of gunshots being fired around 3:40 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, it was reported that someone had died, according to police scanner transmissions.
Four KPD squad cars, one of which was an undercover vehicle, were on the scene about an hour after the incident at 5269 Weke Road, which was blocked off with yellow caution tape.
A visitor next door, who arrived Thursday, said she didn’t hear any shots.
“The cops weren’t here when I arrived, which was two hours ago, and I just went to go for a walk on the beach as they pulled up,” Kilar Philina from San Francisco said. “They were talking to some guy who was in a car, and he was calling them a-holes. By that time, there were fire engines here.”
“We just came home and saw the police there,” said one neighbor who preferred not to be named.
Police officers were unable to offer comment on the scene.
The individual was not identified by press time.
KPD arrived on scene “about an hour after the incident”?! Wow.
We’ll see how much actual info we get about this incident. Or is KPD going to keep it all hush-hush, as usual…?
