Kathleen Ann Eastman-Lorenz
Kathleen Ann Eastman-Lorenz of Wailua Homesteads died Jan. 17, 2019, at her home at age 71.
Born on Aug. 25, 1947, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, she was a nurse and avid orchid gardener. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Lorenz and mother Harriet Eastman.
She is survived by children Morgan Lorenz and Camden Lorenz, father Robert Eastman, siblings Robert Eastman, Peter Eastman, Linda Eastman and John Eastman, numerous nieces and nephews, and her Club Med of Hanalei family.
Following cremation, services will be private.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marina Dureg Makua
Marina Dureg Makua, 72, of Eleele, passed away on March 12, 2019, on Oahu.
She was born on Aug. 13, 1946, in Waimea.
She was preceded in death by husband James Akina Makua, parents Tobias and Lorenza Dureg, sister Leonora Manuel, and brothers Elisio and Jack Dureg.
She is survived by daughters Wanda Irving of Eleele, Jaimie (Victor) Perez of Texas, Julia Makua of Michigan, and Melissa (Brian) Edwards of Florida, sons Audie (Lisa) Dureg of California and Billy (Doreen) Irving of Idaho, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, April 20, at Garden Island Mortuary chapel in Lawai from 4 to 5 p.m., where a celebration of life will begin at 5 p.m., with fellowship to follow. The family suggests casual attire.

Leslie ‘Les’ Katsumi Tani
Leslie “Les” Katsumi Tani, 72, of Lihue, passed away on March 20, 2019, at Kauai Care Center in Waimea. He was born in Honolulu on Feb. 21, 1947, and was a retired self-employed plumber.
He was preceded in death by parents Richard and Elaine Tani.
He is survived by daughter Leilynn Tani, son Layton (Bev’Al) Tani, sister Lorraine (Jon Takeshita) Tani, brother Clifford (Shirley) Tani, grandchildren James Tani, Melissa Paredes, Kristin Harrison, Taran Tani, Teesha Tani and Taynan Tani, great-grandchildren Jantzen Tani, Aiko Tani and Colton Pungan, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Lydgate Park south area on Friday, April 5, from noon to 6 p.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
