Michael K. Chow
Michael K. Chow, 59, of Visalia, California, peacefully passed on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at Kaweah Delta Hospital.
He was born on May 2, 1959, on Kauai. A hard worker, he was a long-time employee of the Sheraton Coconut Beach Hotel as a security guard, and retired fromthe state Department of Transportation Highways Division as a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Martha Chow and eldest sister Lyndelle Makanani.
A gentle soul, he was fun, loveable and a devoted family man. He is survived by wife Malia Chow, daughter Mishelle Kahilena Chow, son Michael Waika Chow andgodchildren Ekolu and Tristyn Rivera, sister Darlene (George) Thronas, brothers Ken Chow and Clayton (Kim) Chow, nieces Sheri and Sharlene Thronas and Kendraand Kaylyn Makanani, nephews George Thronas Jr., Tyson Thronas and Kahale Chow, brother-in-law Tommy Makanani, in-laws Wenny (Mary) Rivera, DeeAnn (Tom) Slobig, Akala (Bryan) Aiwohi, Elua (Trish) Rivera, hanai family John and Judy Crabtree of Visalia, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended nieces,nephews and friends.
A celebration of life and legacy will be held at the Lihue Kauai Veterans Center on Friday, March 22, with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m., services to follow andluncheon to follow. Burial will follow at the Lihue Cemetery.
Linda Yoshie Minami Kupihea
Linda Yoshie Minami Kupihea, 68, of Kapaa, passed away on March 7, 2019, at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on July 29, 1950 on Kauai, she was a human resources personnel clerk at Lihue Airport for the state Department of Transportation Airports Division.
She is survived by husband Wallace Kupihea of Kapaa, sons Aaron (Melissa Furtado) Kupihea of Keapana, Victor Kupihea of Wailua, Jason (Lola) Siterek of Waianae, Oahu, daughters Hazel (Jay ) Lotu of Wailua, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, parents Harry Minami and Hazel Ota, and brother Stanford Minami of Tuson, Arizona.
Services will be held at a later date.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary is assisting the famly with arrangements.
Randy Gabriel Soliven
Randy Gabriel Soliven, 49, of Puhi, passed away on March 9, 2019, at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on January 31, 1970 in Marikina, Philippines, he worked as a cook at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa in the Culinary Department, and also at The Club at Kukuiula in the Culinary Department.
He is survived by wife Marla K. Castillo-Soliven of Puhi, son Michael Treston Castillo-Ramos of Puhi, daughters Joycelyn (Ryan) Barganza of Seattle, Kiana Soliven (Galen) of Koloa and Tiara (Kamu) Thain of Honolulu, six grandchildren, parents Agustine U. Soliven & Adoracion G. Delrosario, brother Robert Manuel of the Philipines, sisters Charito (John) Lontoc of Lihue, Carlota (Clyde) Nada of Hanapepe, Lourdes Washington of Florida, Belen (Tom) Vino of Florida and Geninna Manuel of Philippines, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 23, at Borthwick/Kauai Mortuary chapel in Koloa from 9:30 to 11 a.m., with services to follow from 11 a.m. to noon. Burial will follow at Lihue Cemetery.
The family suggests casual attire.
