LIHUE — The Kauai Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a runaway juvenile.
Kaylee Fernandez, 16, of Anahola, was last seen on Kauai in early December. Although she has been intermittently in contact with her family, her current whereabouts are unkown. Her family believes she could be in the Hanamaulu or Kekaha areas of Kauai, or in the Nanakuli, Waipahu or Waianae areas of Oahu.
Fernandez is five feet tall and weighs approximately 100 pounds. She has a fair complexion, wavy brown hair, and is of Filipino, Hawaiian and Japanese descent.
Anyone with information about Fernandez’s whereabouts on Kauai is urged to call KPD dispatch at 241-1711 or Crime Stoppers Kauai at 246-8300.
Anyone with information about Fernandez’s whereabouts on Oahu is urged to call the Honolulu Police Department 911, or the Missing Child Center Hawaii at 808-586-1449.
Aloha Kakou, since it requires a photo I.D. to board the plane and there is only 1 inter island carrier, Hawaiian, how could there be doubt she is on or off island, if off island is it assumed she is on Oahu or in Hawaii still.
Of course she could have gone Oahu on Hawaiian and then anywhere in the world from there…but regardless…are our Kaua’i Police not allowed to check the passenger list.
And are Passenger lists not on Computer so that the airline just types in a name and finds out what flight, if any, that person was on.
If no one has thought about this airline check in the past, which would be incredulous, well now you know what to do.
A young girl’s whereabouts and safety are a lot more important than a non dangerous criminal, on the run, and the authorities should know if a criminal took a flight off or on Kauai.
Computers do cool things, so use them for that, like for the safety and whereabouts of a teenage girl. At least they would know what island she is on…better than looking for a needle in a haystack.
