KAPAA — Kapaa High School’s varsity softball team won both games of Saturday’s doubleheader against Kauai High School at home.
Kapaa (2-0 KIF) won the first game in six innings, 15-5, and then won the second game in five innings, 14-4.
In the first game Saturday, Kapaa got 15 runs on 10 hits, left five runners on base and did not record an error.
Ini Marshall was the winning pitcher. In six innings, Marshall allowed five runs on 11 hits and had three walks. Shaylin Rivera was 2-4 batting with three RBIs and scored two runs.
Kauai (1-2 KIF) got five runs on 11 hits, left six runners on base and recorded six errors.
Dreanalynn Tafiti took the loss. In five innings, Tafiti allowed 15 runs on 10 hits and had four strikeouts and four walks. Naomi Macferren was 2-4 batting with two RBIs.
In the second game, Kapaa got 14 runs on nine hits, left four runners on base and recorded two errors. Rivera was 3-3 with two triples and scored two runs.
Kauai got four runs on six hits, left six runners on base and recorded four errors. Leinoe Bumanglag-Padilla was 1-1 with a single and two walks and scored two runs.
Kapaa will play against Waimea (0-1 KIF) at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Waimea Canyon Park.
Kauai will play against Waimea for a doubleheader Saturday at Waimea Canyon Park. The first game is scheduled for 10 a.m.
