LIHUE — Registration is opening up for the Spring Break Coral Reef Kids Camp, where keiki ages 8 to 13 explore the underwater world of fish and marine animals.
This camp takes kids underwater adventures, meeting at beaches to snorkel, photograph, video and then illustrate their ocean discoveries.
It combines art and science in a hands-on camp that brings kids closer to the coral and sparks an understanding of marine ecosystems from an ecological, Hawaiian and scientific perspective.
“New and returning explorers are welcome,” said program director Robin Mazor, pointing out that it’s a chance for kids to use their creativity to learn and engage in coral reef protection.
This session runs from Tuesday, March 19, to Thursday, March 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Snorkel gear is provided. The cost is $90 per person, with some scholarships available.
