A $1,000 scholarship is available for one Kauai student, and one student in Pennsylvania, who are pursuing bachelor’s or graduate degrees, from Fujita & Miura Public Relations, a firm with offices in both locations.
Selected candidates will be referred to as “FMPR Scholars,” and will be determined in June following the scholars’ providing documentation that they have been accepted for admission by a college or university for the following academic year. The scholarship is paid directly to the FMPR Scholar to cover tuition fees, boarding, living expenses and other academic-related expenses.
Financial need is not necessarily a factor in being awarded the FMPR scholarship. However, students who have faced and overcome major life obstacles, including financial hardship, will be given preference as long as they meet the other criteria.
Applicants need to submit a 300-word personal statement that includes information about the applicant’s past accomplishments and plans for the future. High school and college transcripts must accompany the package.
Fujita & Miura Public Relations have been awarding two $1,000 scholarships annually — one to a Kauai student, and one to a Pennsylvania student — since 2009.
