TSA is holding a “Fast Track to Hire” and is looking to fill 25 full- and part-time positions at the Lihue Airport with pay starting at $22.62 per hour and benefits in the mix. It’s the last of four statewide events aimed at bolstering Transportation Security Officers at Hawaii airports. So far, more than 450 people statewide have showed interest in working for TSA.
“Essentially, we have TSA officials on hand to talk to people who may be interested about what it means to be a TSA officer,” said Lorie Dankers, TSA spokeswoman. She said the goal is to add to their ranks for the summer travel season.
The hiring comes in step with expanded flights from Southwest Airlines to Hawaii airports and after the January government shutdown reportedly triggered a rash of TSA screeners quitting or calling in sick after pay was delayed.
Dankers said TSA sees a fair amount of turnover as employees move on to other federal agencies and into law enforcement.
Those interested should expect the whole process to take between three and five hours. Info: 1-877-872-7990
What exactly are they looking for? Thugs with badges. Or just the average worker, but with a keen eye for security and police work. I take it they are only accepting applications from people with some sort of experience already in the field of surveillance. This could be any number of people looking for work.
