LIHUE — Ha Coffee Bar is hosting a climate-change conversation 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, featuring Victoria Keener speaking on how Kauai is adapting to predicted impacts of climate change.
Some topics that will be covered include reliable and safe water supplies, marine and terrestrial ecosystem health, sea-level rise and coastal impacts, and impacts to the community. The focus will be on state- and county-level initiatives aimed at addressing those impacts.
Keener is the lead principal investigator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Pacific Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments program.
Her talk will highlight specific impacts of climate change and adaptations for Kauai.
A climate assessment was released in late 2018 and includes the work of more than 300 authors. It focuses on climate change across the U.S., looking at how it will affect the nation ecologically, societally and economically.
