Seniors thriving in Lihue
Under the able leadership of Marilyn Matsumoto of Lihue, the Lihue Senior Center has been meeting every Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. or longer at the Lihue Neighborhood Center.
The seniors have been meeting for 30 or more years, enjoying speakers on timely and helpful topics, going on educational field trips to such places as the noni farm, the food bank, the county jail, the north and south shore, or having lunch at Keoki’s in Koloa to celebrate Christmas.
We’ve had different speakers on various health issues, safety, identify theft, and other educational topics.
We have had picnics at Lydgate Park and games and picnic lunches and sharing of multi-cultural songs and dances. Anyone is invited to join and enjoy the programs.

Appreciate all the good work
We want to commend the county parks and public works departments for the outstanding job they have done all these years in making our home safe, comfortable and fun.
First, we must thank the parks department for removing a tree in the Rose Bukoski baseball park in Koloa a few months back. The tree was rotten and could have hurt someone. Lenny Rapozo and his crew did an outstanding job.
Second, we commend the roads division for cleaning the grassy area at the corner of Hoolako Street and Rice Street. Excellent job.
With the continued pressure from increased tourist traffic and the increase in residential population, the county must be commended for the way they continue to make living on Kauai an honor and pleasure.
