Dutch students march for better climate policies

Maartje Bood and her friends hold up a banner at a climate protest saying in Dutch “We want our 11 cities race back,” a reference to a 200-kilometer speedskating race over canals in the northern Netherlands that is only staged in very cold winters when the ice is thick enough. The last race was held in 1997, during a march in support of more ambitious climate policies in The Hague, Netherlands, Thursday Feb. 7, 2019. Organizers of the demonstration say they want to send a wake-up call to politicians in the Netherlands who are wrestling with how best to rein in greenhouse gas emissions. (AP Photo/Michael Corder)
