Kauai Dance Center is hosting its 21st annual New Year’s Dance Recital Showcase on Saturday, and it’ll be an afternoon of dance styles including lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop and ballet.
The theme is “Glittering.”
“Kauai Dance Center’s annual Recital showcases KDC students of all ages and levels of dance. Come enjoy ballet demonstrations by our youngest dancers ages 3 to 5,” said Jennifer Bell-Grey, owner and instructor at KDC. “In addition to demonstrations, dancers 6 years and older will be performing choreography and traditional classical repertoire from Swan Lake, Paquita, Giselle and the Sleeping Beauty.”
The Youth Ensemble students will be showcasing contemporary, lyrical, hip hop and Spanish dance.
The event kicks off with the Children’s Performance from 1 to 2 p.m., showcasing the younger students ages 3 to 9.
After a short break, the Youth Ensemble Performance, with students ages 10 to teens, will begin at 4 p.m.
Kauai Dance Center’s annual recital will be at the Kauai Dance Center/Eyes Wide Open Productions Theater, next to Hesse Flooring and across from Nawiliwili Park at 3285 Waapa Road, Nawiliwili.
General ticket cost is $10 at the door, $8 in advanced. Admission is per show and seating is limited. Child tickets are $5, $3 in advance and child age is considered 17 and under. Children under 2 years old and sharing an adult seat receive free admission.
Tickets are being sold at Magic Dragon Toy and Art Supply in Princeville and Progressive Expressions in Koloa.
Proceeds benefit the Kauai Dance Center Performance and Scholarship Fund.
