LIHUE — The top male and female finishers in Saturday’s 5k Resolution Run will win $100 gift certificates for new sunglasses from Punzal Vision.
The fun run begins at 8 a.m. and is a fundraiser for the Puuwai Canoe Club, which is hoping for about 300 runners and walkers.
The course primarily follows the trails opened by Hokuala, a Timbers Resorts development, through an old golf course not far from the Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club.
It costs $35 for adults and is free for keiki under 12. A shirt and refreshments are included. There is race-day registration at the same price. Walkers and leashed dogs are welcome.
The family friendly race to kick off the new year is timed and there will be refreshments.
Packet pickup is 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the race start/finish.
Directions: Drive into the Marriott off Nawiliwili and past the golf clubhouse. Before the bridge take a left, and another left immediately. Drive to the end of the road; the run starts in the cul-de-sac.
