Open door policy road to bankruptcy
Open door policy road to bankruptcy
Don’t be fooled by the current budget dispute and government shutdown. It isn’t about Trump and it most certainly isn’t about saving $5 billion on a “partial” wall.
It’s been said that illegal immigration costs anywhere from $100 to $300 billion a year. Every illegal that crosses our border is the equivalent to a tax hike for all citizens both Republican and Democrat.
When MS13 or ISIS crosses the border illegally, they don’t care if they kill a Republican or Democrat. This should clearly be a bipartisan issue, so what’s going on?
People who come here illegally are attracted by free social programs and very predictably vote for the party who will most likely continue those programs (Democratic Party). Therefore our Senate reps here in Hawaii, Hirono and Schatz, standing in the way of securing our borders are simply not representing either party.
They are representing those non-citizens coming here illegally but ultimately representing themselves and their own party. The Democrats have been quickly losing voters and are in dire need of “fresh recruits.”
Citizens need to understand that an open door policy at our border could very easily bankrupt our country. This strategy has the U.S. on an unsustainable path to intentional self-destruction known as “Cloward-Piven.”
Michael Newgent, Kapaa
Found this in the Washington Post. At least you will get gordo and the beek fired up. Hate to spoil your day. Dont you get tired of hating?
From Sept.2017.
WASHINGTON — Trump administration officials, under pressure from the White House to provide a rationale for reducing the number of refugees allowed into the United States next year, rejected a study by the Department of Health and Human Services that found that refugees brought in $63 billion more in government revenues over the past decade than they cost.
The draft report, which was obtained by The New York Times, contradicts a central argument made by advocates of deep cuts in refugee totals as President Trump faces an Oct. 1 deadline to decide on an allowable number. The issue has sparked intense debate within his administration as opponents of the program, led by Mr. Trump’s chief policy adviser, Stephen Miller, assert that continuing to welcome refugees is too costly and raises concerns about terrorism.
Spot on Mr. Newgent! Sadly, your letter will fall on deaf ears with the majority of Hawaiians.
Horse pucky, Michael.
No, Democrats do not advocate an open-door immigration policy. That is patently absurd. And “free social programs”? If you had bothered to do even a little research, you would have found that undocumented immigrants are ineligible for food stamps, welfare and federal public benefits. Even qualified immigrants do not automatically qualify for government assistance. They have to undergo a five-year waiting period.
All you’ve done in your letter is perpetuate falsehoods. But, I suppose, when your source of information is Sarah Huckabee Sanders and FOX News, you have to expect something like this.
Michael…Fake news, stop marathon watching Faux News…Democrats do NOT advocate open borders, rather endorse border security that includes technology and human surveillance. Please remember there are planes, tunnels, contraband at legal crossings that account for most illegal entry. A wall with tRUMP brand will not protect us., just another vainglory attempt by #45 to immortalize himself at our expense.
Nonsense.
Immigrants, including illegals, provide a workforce willing to do the jobs that entrenched citizens do not want to perform.
They enable businesses everywhere, especially agricultural, to make profits amounting to billions of dollars.
And how many ISIS members do you think cross our southern border?
Stop your fanatical fear-mongering and get to work, cleaning toilets or doing something useful other than spreading lies and further riling up the base of our man-child president.
How many people do you personally know, not that you’ve heard about from Fox news, that have been the victims of crimes by illegals? I don’t personally know anyone. You are about 300+ times more likely to be gunned down by some citizen Caucasian nut job than by an undocumented person, crime statistics show. Ever have an undocumented person work for you? Good workers, by and large, because they are here to better themselves. Yes, we need some sort of border security as do most countries. We do not have an open door policy nor do we want one. Quit being a racist and don’t buy into Trump’s and Rush Limbaugh’s BS. Think for yourself and do more and better research before you spew on this site. Where do you get these numbers? Total baloney, ie “fake news”. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/fact-check-how-much-does-illegal-immigration-cost-america-not-n950981. I’m more concerned with the 1.3 trillion dollar deficit increase cause by the tax gift to billionaires and large corporations.
Wonderful letter Michael! You’ve eloquently expressed the reality of our situation and the folly of the opposition to protecting our Country! Unfortunately, there are many more naïve, agenda driven, selfish, sheeple, who only see what they’re told by the power mongering fake news media and other idiots who lack the common sense to think for themselves. The tendency for a Nation to embrace Socialism is very strong. Free stuff, paid for by a benevolent Government offering a path to laziness, is too strong of an allure to the undereducated and more intellectually challenged among us. We’re living in the time of Collapse of this great Nation under the exact same circumstances that effected the collapse of Rome, Greece, Phoenicia, and all the other great Nation Empires that once were. It’s sad to see, and even more difficult to experience by those who believe in self determination over Government induced happiness..
Actually, Rome collapsed due to the “Rome First” policies of a racist, sexist, bigoted, philandering Caesar whose Generals considered to be immoral!
Well said!
Thank you!
Here we go with more fear mongering from the dwindling republican party. I especially like the closing part about the democratic party losing voters. Yea.. right did you not see the election results of the midterms ? If you say enough times YOU might believe it but not the voters of Hawaii.
You should also mention the killing of our police officers and citizens of the USA. Living in Hawaii, people here are isolated from the reality of what’s going on in big cities like Houston, Texas. Houston is the #1 human trafficking city in the USA. Prostitution, drugs, gangs- it’s out of control!
http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Houston-Texas.html. Crime’s been going down in Houston for the last 15 years.
Michael’s “It’s been said that…” can join trump’s “People are saying that…” and FOX News’ “There’s lots of talk about…” as the new Verification for Hillbillies (VFH) method of scientific research that is redefining the word “fact” nationwide!
don’t kid yourselves, if the people crossing the border were voting republican the wall would already be built short to shore, 30 feet high… and electrified
@anonymous:
Don’t kid yourself. People crossing the border CAN’T vote, nor can legal immigrants until, when, and if they become > American citizens.

“Unfortunately, there are many more naïve, agenda driven, selfish, sheeple, who only see what they’re told by the power mongering fake news media and other idiots who lack the common sense to think for themselves.”
Tremendous description of the Republicans that are blindly intoxicated with the current President!
So tremendous I’m amazed he still has ANY followers. Fact Check sites are yugely tremendous too. You’ll like them, you’ll like them so much you’ll soon be saying they’re tremendous > so tremendous you’ll be thanking me!
