The Kauai All Girl Rodeo Association closed its year by naming Casera Silva as the All Around Cowgirl during its recent year-end gathering, where year-end point standings were also announced.
Casera, earning a fast time buckle in the breakaway roping event with a 2.99-second go, finished the year with 272 points (earned by placements in the six KAGRA events throughout the year) to edge past sister Coryssa Silva by 50 points.
Working through the year, Casera finished tops in the goat-tying events and emerged as the top heeler in dally team roping. She finished second in three events, including in barrel racing and pole bending, where Coryssa topped Casera in the first D of each event. Casera rounded out the year with a third finish in breakaway roping.
Coryssa finished the year with top earnings in two events — barrel racing and pole bending.
KAGRA will launch its 2019 season with a free event on Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. at CJM Country Stables in Poipu. The public is invited to view the action beginning with the grand entry.
