WAIMEA — Sierra Club is offering a moderate-level hike at Waimea Canyon today and it’s open to all.
Led by Julio Magalhaes, the loop hike will explore panoramic views of the Waimea Canyon and ocean beyond as well as the upper reaches of Waipo’o Falls on this intermediate-level loop hike including the Pu’u Hinahina Trail, Cliff Trail, Canyon Trail, Black Pipe Trail, Halemanu- Koke’e Trail, Kumuela Trail, and return on Canyon Trail.
With a hike length of about 8 miles and about 1800 feet of elevation gain, our hike will be at an intermediate-level. This hike will also include a small adventure since there is a 15-foot section with a shallow water crossing that may require the removal of boots if people do not feel comfortable leaping between the rocks.
The hike will begin at 10:30 a.m. and go through about 4 p.m.
