NAWILIWILI — Gather Federal Credit Union pledged $150,000 toward the completion of the trauma center at Wilcox Health on Thursday, during the Kauai Chamber of Commerce Annual General Membership Meeting held at the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club.
The completion of the trauma center is one of the highlights for Wilcox Health, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary, said Jen Chahanovich, the president and chief executive officer for Wilcox Health. Chahanovich also noted the 46-year history of service by its emergency room physician Dr. Monty Downs, who was in attendance at the year-end celebration.
The pledge by Gather Federal Credit Union includes the sponsorship of three rooms in the trauma center. Andy Bestwick of Wilcox Health said there are other sponsorship packages available for the trauma center.
The annual meeting sponsored by Hawaii Pacific Health, Wilcox Medical Center, attracted a large crowd of more than 400 people who enjoyed the evening browsing through the large silent auction section, getting holiday photos done, and a buffet dinner followed by the installation of the 2019 Kauai Chamber of Commerce directors by Judge Edmund Acoba.
