Please, clean public restrooms
Please, clean public restrooms
I visited Kauai Nov. 3-14 with three other ladies. Stayed on the South Shore for a week and the North Shore for a week. We did all the tourist attractions available.
Your island is beautiful and the people are very friendly and accommodating. The only negative thing I can say is, almost all the public restrooms are deplorable.
Dirty, just very unsanitary and disgusting. I sincerely hope this situation is rectified before I visit your island again. Kauai has always been my favorite place to vacation, but this last trip has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Deplorable is an understatement to the lack of public, sanitary and accessible restrooms….. No, portable toilets are NOT A SOLUTION!!!!
AS A SENIOR MEMBER OF THE HAWAI’IAN COMMUNITY, I FIND IT DISRESPECTFUL AND DEGRADING TO NOT HAVE RESTROOMS CONVENIENTLY LOCATED AND MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT THE ISLAND.
The experience of using a filthy toilet in such a beautiful setting most of our public toilets afford( Lydgate, kealia, salt ponds, state parks) is not lost on visitors and locals alike. Until we fix the root causes of juvenile acts such as drug abuse, domestic violence and plain boredom these conditions will remain. That and the county needs to up it’s game. I would love our new council take a tour of these facilities island wide. Between that and traffic problems we may not have to worry about over tourism.
