Kudos to the Kauai Veterans Council — Becky Komaki, a food safety certified person, was busy with the Hawaii Government Employees Association Kendall Scholarship fundraiser at the Kauai Museum Christmas Craft Fair (yes, the malasada, poi balls and lumpia sold out despite the rain interruptions!) and turning on a dime to work with the Kenny Ishii-provided grinds at the veterans luncheon.
More kudos to Fred Cowell (the drone batteries went low!) and the Kauai Coffee ohana on hosting its annual open house (Santa Phil made it from the Lights on Rice Polaris — what happened to the generator? — to the Numila open house). Where else can you find an ugly sweater contest and, maybe one day, we’ll have the Darla Domingo dash come from the workplace wellness program to become a public event …
And Laurie Ho was anxious to go check out Steve Lee and his line of men’s wear at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens craft fair, where people could bring canned food for Wes Perreira and the Hawaii Foodbank Kauai Branch.
