KAPAA — Waimea High School’s varsity girls basketball team defeated Kapaa High School in overtime, 69-63, Friday night at the Bernice Hundley Gym in Kapaa.
Waimea’s Kaye Serapio scored a game-high 25 points. Kiersten Gummerus scored 21.
Kapaa Jaliyah Casem led the team with 15 points.
Waimea (1-1 KIF) will host Kauai High School (1-1 KIF) on Monday. The JV game begins 5:30 p.m. and the varsity will follow.
Kapaa (1-1 KIF) next plays on Dec. 12 at Kauai High School.
Waimea also defeated Kapaa in the junior varsity game, 45-24.
Deyshia Kenney led the JV Menehune with 21 points. Kyllie Belmonte scored eight points for the JV Warriors.
